Biography#
Born in Los Angeles County and raised in Alhambra, Grant was just eight when he and his older sister and their parents moved to Costa Mesa. Grant attended Main School in Costa Mesa, then went to Newport Harbor High School. He first encountered Orange Coast College in 1953, at the age of 15. Grant was an assistant U.S. Olympic crew coach for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. Grant spent six years as OCC’s president, from 1989 until his retirement in December of 1995.
